The field of Orthopedic Traumatology is relatively new, when compared to other subspecialties within Orthopedic Surgery. Orthopedic trauma involves care for patients who have been severly injured from high-energy mechanisms. These often involve motor vehicle accidents, falls from heights, and industrial accidents. The Orthopedic Trauma Association (OTA), which was officially formed in 1985, represents our specialty within the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Medical Association, and is dedicated to education of young practitioners, residents, and OTA members worldwide.

Dr Neiman has been a member of the OTA since 2002.
